Google Triple Listings - double indent
So I did a search on Google for a persons name, and to my amazement there were 2 triple listings shown in the top 10 search results. So results, 1-3 and 4-6 were taken up with these 2 very prominent listings from Facebook and Twitter. I found this very interesting, something unique and likely to be phased into very specific searches where there is a site with good responses to that search - like a name search on facebook or twitter - makes perfect sense to me!
They listings took the form of ..
facebook1
- facebook2
- facebook3
The actual keywords in the name were used in this configuration.
name1 name2 name3
facebook > name1 name2 name3
- facebook > name1 name3
- facebook > name2 name3
What this shows is that Google are leveling out searches for certain sites. For example why should name1 name3 rank above name2 name3 .. it shouldn’t, they should be given a near identical ranking so why not show both? - I guess the exceptions on this are where the name1 name2 is truly deserving of a higher rankings, more relevance and more important - like a celebrity or famous person. Having said that on facebook should they get a boost? - probably not.
The second listing in the top 10 was for Twitter.
twitter1
- twitter2
- twitter3
Interesting little find I think .. enjoy!
