DMOZ 2.0 - The New Website
According to all reports DMOZ 2.0 is on track for an end of Q1 release, being end of March 2010. All editors are being asked to confirm their details as this data will be imported into the new system. Of course you can understand its a mammoth task to redo such a large complex site and it as a DMOZ editor I wish to thank AOL for helping support this project.
All emails relating to the launch and notifications have to be translated in many languages.
There is a project manager at DMOZ working with developers from AOL that are pushing for the new site to be released around the end of March - it seems to be on track at present.
The new site is in beta and is being heavily tested by a select group of DMOZ editors and staff. The Beta launch to meta editors and techs was on 02-Mar-10 - I am sure they are providing a lot of feedback to the AOL team, and hopefully there wont be any huge problems.
Details, even for DMOZ editors (like me), are not clear on how the new system is improved, but by all accounts there is a complete overhaul on the site, the editing system and all presentation - a new website! I am sure this is a welcome change anticipated by all current editors and visitors alike.
